Write for Opswiss

Opswiss publishes practical, first-hand content about life in Switzerland for an English-speaking international audience. We welcome contributions from writers who bring genuine experience and useful information to our readers.

What We Publish

We publish in-depth city guides, neighborhood profiles, cost of living breakdowns, expat experience pieces, transport explainers, working life articles, and seasonal travel content. Our editorial focus is on clarity, accuracy, and content that helps readers make informed decisions.

Who We Are Looking For

We work with expats living in Switzerland, regular travelers to the country, locals who can write in clear English, and researchers or professionals with first-hand insight into Swiss cities, cantons, or industries. What unites our contributors is direct experience with the topics they write about.

What We Do Not Accept

To protect the quality of the site, we do not publish AI-generated content without substantial human input and verification, promotional articles disguised as editorial, content already published elsewhere on the web, generic listicles without personal insight, or pieces that lack practical and factual detail.

Submission Guidelines

All submissions must meet the following requirements. Articles must be a minimum of 1000 words. Content must be written in English. Pieces must be original and not published elsewhere, including personal blogs and Medium. Articles must include practical, factual information that readers can act on. An author bio of around 50 to 80 words and a high-resolution author photo are required for publication.

Topics We Are Currently Looking For

We are actively seeking contributions on the following subjects: detailed neighborhood guides for Zurich, Geneva, Basel, and Lausanne; first-year expat experiences in any Swiss canton; cost of living comparisons between Swiss cities; navigating Swiss health insurance as a newcomer; opening a bank account and managing finances in Switzerland; working culture and professional norms by industry; raising children and choosing schools in Switzerland; learning German, French, or Italian as a resident; cross-border living between Switzerland and neighboring countries; and seasonal travel guides for lesser-known Swiss regions.

How to Submit

Send your pitch or completed draft to [email protected] with the subject line “Write for Opswiss — [Topic]”. Include a short introduction about yourself, an outline or full draft, and any relevant writing samples. We aim to respond to all serious pitches within five business days.

What Contributors Receive

Published contributors receive a byline at the top of the article, an author bio at the end of the piece, and one dofollow link to a personal website, professional portfolio, or LinkedIn profile. We do not currently offer paid contributions, but we are committed to giving each writer fair credit and visibility within our growing audience.
